Pear 'Catillac', early September. A heritage French pear. "Origin uncertain, first recorded in 1665 and one of the oldest in cultivation, probably found in Cadillac in the Gironde, France. Growth vigorous and spreading, heavy cropping and fairly reliable...a culinary pear requiring cooking slowly for a long time (1-2 hours typically), after which time it is pleasant and turning pale pink...Probably the best of the cooking pears."
