Pampas grass (Cortaderia selloana 'Aureolineata' syn. Cortaderia selloana 'Gold Band'), mid August. "This spectacular pampas grass has expansive foliage that makes a luxuriant, large, evergreen clump. The individual leaves, margined in slender bands of yellow, are over 1m long and razor sharp. Collectively the effect is dramatic, making a large mound of bright yellow and, unlike the white banded 'Albolineata', it is unaffected by cold winters or hot summers, keeping its foliage vibrant for most of the year ... Origin: South America. [Fergus Garrett, Great Dixter, Nurseryman's Favourites, Gardens Illustrated, December 2013]
