Nyssa aquatica, late October. Common names include: Water tupelo, Cottongum, Wild olive, Large tupelo, Sourgum, Tupelo-gum, and Water-gum. A large, long-lived tree in the tupelo genus native to the swamps and floodplains of the southeastern United States.
