140319_161_Tulip 'Corona'.jpg
Tulip 'Corona', mid March. One of the earliest flowering Kaufmanniana Group tulips. Raised in 1948 by van Tubergen. "Red on the outside and pale yellow inside, 'Corona' reveals a distinctive scarlet ring around the centre of its flowers when they are fully open. It is far less brash than many of the other bicolours but sufficiently bright to make its mark in the open garden landscape." (Gardening With Tulips", Michael King)
